Abstract

Irisha Augustine, 19031000037 guided by Lecturer I, Drs. H. Bambang Noorsetya, M.Si and Lecturer II, Dr. Budhy Prianto, MS. Completed the thesis with the title "COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE TEMPE CHIPS INDUSTRY" (Study at the Sanan Tempe and Tempe Chips Industry Center, Purwantoro Village, Blimbing District, Malang City). The Sanan Tempe and Tempe Chips Industry Center is one of the places where tourists visit to buy souvenirs typical of Malang, namely Sanan tempe chips. Around 90% of residents in Purwantoro Village, as many as 3 RW, manage businesses in the tempe and tempe chip industry. In one production, the average craftsman needs 25-30 tons of soybeans. The number of products produced in one production is 300-500 packs. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze community empowerment through the tempe chips small industry. In addition, to describe and analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of community empowerment through the tempe chips small industry in Purwantoro Village, Blimbing District, Malang City. This research uses qualitative research methods so that the author can analyze and explain in writing and in detail, with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research location chosen is in accordance with the title of the thesis "Community Empowerment through Tempe Chips Small Industry" (Study in Tempe and Tempe Chips Industry Center, Purwantoro Village, Blimbing District, Malang City). The results of the study show that coaching and training activities are not a necessity for craftsmen. The government does not fully protect or protect the business activities of artisans from the provision of raw materials, production processes to marketing. There are various parties that support the tempe chips industry, including the Malang City Industry and Trade Cooperative Office, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, the Tourism Awareness Group, the Sanan Tempe and Tempe Chips Industry Center Association. The Sanan Tempe and Tempe Chips Industry Center is well-known and visited by various tourists ranging from domestic to foreign tourists. A total of more than 30 countries and 5 heads of state have visited to learn about the history of the beginning of the industry, making tempe and tempe chips, managing tempe waste and cow waste. The problems faced in community empowerment are the limitations of craftsmen in managing finances well so that business development is unknown, poor management of the association organization, and constraints in marketing competition.
