Abstract

Tourism has an important role to play in having a positive impact on state andregional revenues. With various tourism missions, regions that have basic tourismpotential tend to develop existing regional potentials, so that they are expected to beable to attract tourists in large numbers. If there is a lot of tourism in the regions, ifthey are able to take advantage of the existing potentials, the government and thelocal community will help each other in its development so that it will raise theeconomic, cultural and educational aspects of the area. Batu City is one of the areasin East Java, this area is very active in terms of developing agricultural-basedtourism potential. As a leading sector, tourism has become a sector that contributesto increasing economic growth aimed at community welfare in accordance withtourism objectives in Batu City. In the effort to develop tourism, Batu City isparticipatory in which the community is included in every stage of the activity sothat there is a sense of belonging which ensures the sustainability of tourismdevelopment.The purpose of this study is to describe the efforts made by the Batu CityTourism Office, this type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitativeapproach. The results of this study indicate that the efforts made by the tourismoffice have been good, the community also supports them. But there are alsoproblems found in the effort to develop tourism in Batu City in the form of: thecondition of road access that is still narrow, inadequate parking, low humanresources for tourism processing.
