Abstract

Adolfus Marianus Ndona Toyo was guided by Supervisor I, namely Drs. H. Titot Edy Soroso, MS. And Supervisor II Dr. Hj. Sri Hartini Jatmikowati, M.Sc. Completed this thesis with the title "Community Empowerment in Developing Local Potential (Study in Pujon Kidul Village, Pujon District, Malang Regency)". In order to develop local potential with the aim of empowering the community. One of the programs implemented to take advantage of the advantages and potential of existing natural resources is a community empowerment program. With the existence of a community empowerment program based on local potential, which means that it is oriented towards maintaining the balance of natural ecosystems, the community is expected to be able to manage and utilize their natural potential and tourism potential so that tourism activities can run well and the lives of rural communities will be more prosperous. Because in essence human life can not be separated from nature. Through empowerment and knowledge, the balance of life between tourism activities, the economy and natural life will work well. Community empowerment is developed based on the values that exist in people's lives. Empowerment focuses on human development and emphasizes community participation so that it is more participatory. Empowerment is an effort to develop an individual, group or community from a situation that is less powerless to have the power to achieve a better life. Basically empowerment is an attempt to encourage clients to determine for themselves what they should do to solve their own problems. So that the client has full awareness and power in shaping his future day.
