Abstract

The use of steel is increasing day by day, considering that steel is a non- renewable mining material so it will run out one day. Thus, another alternative to steel was developed, one of the candidates is bamboo. Bamboo is recommended to be used as a substitute for reinforcement, it has a high tensile strength that is close to the strength of steel. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the yield stress of bamboo reinforcement on the axial compressive strength of bamboo reinforced concrete columns. In this study, the selection of 3 variations of yield stress obtained from different bamboo stems was investigated. The test object with a size of 11 x 30 cm with a total of 9 test objects. Each variation is divided into 3 with each Fy1, Fy2, and Fy3. Design concrete quality f'c 20.75 Mpa. Tests carried out on reinforced concrete specimens with bamboo transverse reinforcement, namely axial compressive strength using UTM (Universal Testing Machine) according to the standard (ASTM C-192). The test results showed that the selection of Fy1 for reinforcement, the axial compressive strength increased compared to Fy2 and Fy3 reinforcement. The axial compressive strength of bamboo reinforced concrete columns Fy3 with Fy1 increased by 13.28%. With a compressive strength of Fy3 of 143.60 kN, Fy2 of 143.80 kN and Fy1 of 165.60 kN.
