Abstract

This work was written by Adrian Saputra NIM.17031000063Undergraduate Student of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and PoliticalSciences, Universitas Merdeka Malang. This thesis writing with the title "HandlingStreet Children in Malang City" under the guidance of Mr. Tommy Hariyanto(Advisor I) and Mr. Chandra Dinata (Advisor II).Street children are part of the public problems that have not been completelyresolved by the central and local governments, although many policy regulationshave been issued, these problems still exist and even increase. The phenomenon ofstreet children is no stranger, especially in big cities where the level of urbanizationis high and economic development is ideal as an area to meet the needs of lifewithout thinking about their abilities or skills.The handling of street children shows that the Malang City P3AP2KBSocial Service is one of the responsible stakeholders. The Malang City P3AP2KBSocial Service has implemented its duties in handling street children based onexisting regulations. Efforts are made in the form of preventive efforts, repressiveefforts and rehabilitative efforts. In this preventive effort, the programs/activitiesthat have been carried out include making appeals to the community and parents,conducting road dispelling activities, and also providing assistance to low-incomefamilies. In this repressive effort, they carried out road control, temporary shelterand carried out coaching at Camp Assessments which were then given various kindsof coaching. Meanwhile, in this rehabilitative effort, the Malang City P3AP2KBSocial Service has carried out identification and assessment programs/activities,training activities, capacity recovery and self-creation programs
