Abstract

Transportation is the movement of people, vehicles and goods from one place to another using a transportation network. Good development and development of facilities and infrastructure in the field of transportation is expected to foster the development of regional potential and existing economic activities. The current population growth and development is very rapid. This causes the use of motorized vehicles is also increasing. However, there are problems that continue to arise due to population growth and increasing use of motorized vehicles, which results in problems in the traffic system where the road is not able to serve the volume of vehicles that exist in a traffic system. This also happened at the signalized intersection of Jalan MT Haryono and Jalan Gajayana Malang City. This study aims to determine the performance of the degree of saturation (DS), and the level of service (LOS) at the intersection which is the case study area using the 1997 MKJI method. The results of this study indicate that the performance of the intersection still meets the requirements of the 1997 MKJI. The performance system of the three-arm intersection of Jalan Gajayana and Jalan MT. Haryono is in a moderate state according to the 1997 MKJI LOS table, namely by having a Level of Service C with an average delay of 15.81 seconds/pcu. The degree of saturation (DS) is still in a fairly good condition with a DS value of < 1.00, namely the S approach (Jalan Gajayana) = 0.54, and the T approach (Jalan MT. Haryono) = 0.79.
