Abstract
Concrete is one of the most widely used materials in building structures because of its simple manufacturing method. Concrete of good quality is greatly influenced by its constituent materials, workmanship, water-cement factor (FAS) and additives when needed. Additives function to facilitate the work of wet concrete and improve the quality of concrete. Sugarcane molasses added material is used as a material for environmentally friendly concrete technology studied in this study. This study aims to determine the effect of adding molasses to the water-cement factor, then molasses concrete is compared to normal concrete, with variations in molasses content of 0.10%, 0.25% and 0.40% by weight of cement and FAS variations, namely 0.47, 0.52, and 0.57. The sample used is cylindrical in shape (d = 15 cm, h = 30 cm), normal concrete quality is planned to be 25 MPa (250 kg/cm2) at 28 days of concrete age. The results showed that the slump test increased the slump value which was directly proportional to the addition of variations in sugarcane molasses, thereby increasing workability. There was an increase in the compressive strength and split tensile strength of the optimum molasses concrete at 0.52 FAS with 0.10% molasses content, namely 401.982 kg/cm2 for compressive strength and 42.935 for split tensile strength. Meanwhile, the lowest compressive strength was at FAS 0.47 with a molasses content of 0.40%, namely 234.017 kg/cm2 and the lowest split tensile strength occurred at FAS 0.57 with a molasses content of 0.40%, namely 33.027 kg/cm2.
