Abstract
Concrete has a weakness, namely low flexural strength. The weakness of concrete can be overcome by adding fiber. The addition of fiber in the concrete mix serves to improve the flexural strength properties of concrete. The fiber used in this research is steel fiber. The purpose of using galvanized steel fiber is to determine the effect of the length of galvanized steel fiber on the flexural strength of concrete beams. The study used galvanized steel fiber with a diameter of 2 mm straight wire fiber with a variable fiber length of 6 cm; 12 cm ; 18 cm ; and 22 cm, fiber content of 10% galvanized steel wire by weight of cement, fiber distribution distribution of 1⁄2 Hb, cement water factor 0.48, and specimen size 15 x 15 x 70 cm was tested at 28 days of age. Flexural strength test using a Hydraulic concrete beam tool with ASTM C-78 standards Test Method for Flexural Strengh of Concrete (Using simple Beam with Third-Point Loading). The results of research with the addition of galvanized steel fibers using a variety of fiber length can increase flexural strength in concrete beams. The average flexible value of concrete blocks without fiber is 6.84 MPa. The biggest increase occurred in a variation of 22 cm fiber length with an increase of 50.00 % of the concrete beam test specimen without and the average smallest flexural strength value at a fiber length of 6 cm with an increase of 7.79 % of the concrete beam without fiber. So in this study it can be concluded that the effect of 22 cm galvanized steel fibers can produce the highest flexible strength value.
