Abstract

A traffic accident is an unexpected and unintentional road event involving a vehicle with or without road users. The research was conducted on Jalan S. Supriadi, Malang City. The purpose of this study was to determine the points of the area prone to traffic accidents and the causes of accidents. Traffic accident data were obtained from the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia, East Java, Malang City Resort. The method used is the Equivalent Accident Number (EAN), Upper Control Limit (BKA) and Upper Control Limit (UCL).

From the results of data analysis shows that at Km 0-0.7 and Km 1.4-2.1 are black spots where the EAN value of Km 0-0.7 = 115, the EAN value of Km 1.4-2.1 = 109, exceeding the control limits of BKA and UCL at Km 0-0.7 BKA = 75, UCL = 87 and at Km 1.4-2.1 BKA = 75, UCL = 86.

The cause of the accident at the black spot point is the act of man himself. Where humans in driving are not careful, disorganized, careless, and sleepy. In addition, due to road alignment factors that have not met the requirements, adequate markings and signs are not available for non-motorized traffic, the markings on the pavement are not clearly visible and there is no special parking space for vehicle stops.
