Abstract

The high growth in traffic volume causes the possibility of damage to the road pavement layer to also increase, therefore new innovations are needed to improve road quality. One of the efforts to improve the quality of asphalt on the highway is modifying the asphalt by utilizing waste materials from used vehicle tires. In this study, used tire waste additives for motorized vehicles were used with different variations, namely 0%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. The specimens were made using a mixture of AC-WC and then tested using the Marshall method to obtain values for density, VIM, VMA, VFB, flow, stability and MQ (Marshall Quotient).
The addition of waste tires in used motor vehicles in the asphalt- concrete mixture (laston) affects the value of the marshall characteristics. Where the most effective addition is at a level of 4%, because at that time the value of marshall stability increased with a value of 1948,513 kg compared to
stability without added materials with a value of 1629,608 kg and waste tires added with a value of 2% with a value of 1820 ,951 kg while the added material for used rubber tires with a content of 3% decreased with a value of 1859,220 kg. As for the VIM value of 5.256%, VMA of 16,740.
