Abstract
Porous asphalt is a mixture of asphalt that has a high level of porosity orvoid content. The high void content of porous asphalt is obtained from the use ofmore coarse aggregate than fine aggregate. This is so that the water that falls onthe asphalt surface will be channeled to the layer below it horizontally andvertically. The high void content in the asphalt mixture will affect the stability valueproduced. Porous asphalt mixtures tend to have low stability values, so it isnecessary to modify or add materials to the asphalt mixture and is expected toincrease the stability of the mixture. This study used gloves waste as an additive tothe porous asphalt mixture in order to determine the effect of the addition on thestability value of the mixture .
This research is an experimental study using added material for glovewaste. The glove waste used is latex glove waste, which is then cut into small piecesand then mixed in the asphalt and heated simultaneously while stirring until theglove and asphalt waste melts and blends together. Testing of aggregates andasphalt using the Bina Marga method and testing of specimens using the AustralianAsphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) 2004 Specification.
Based on the results of the Marshall test, with the addition of 1% glovewaste content, the Stability, MQ, and IRS parameters obtained higher results.Stability value obtained a value of 856.56 Kg, MQ value obtained a value of 257.21Kg, and IRS obtained a value of 90.92%. As for the VIM parameter, the mixtureobtained the highest value when no gloves were added with a value of 18.75%.From the test results for each parameter, the resulting value will decrease withincreasing levels of glove waste into the mixture. This shows that the level of wastegloves used in the best porous asphalt mixture is 1% by weight of asphalt.
