Abstract

High quality concrete is concrete that has high compressive strength and can be obtained from the selection of materials in the form of additives such as silica fume and other fine grained materials such as fillers. This study aims to determine the effect of levels silica fume and the water-cement factor on the compressive strength of high-strength concrete with additions of filer pumice. The calculation of mix design is in accordance with SNI 03-6468-2000 regarding the procedure for planning high quality concrete mixes with Portland cement. The test specimens used were cylindrical in number of 45 pieces and were tested at the age of 28 days using a CTM tool. Variations in the cement water factor used were 0.26, 0.4 and 0.5 as well as variations in levels silica fume 1%, 1.4%, 1.9% and 2.3% by weight of cement and additions filler pumice stone at a constant rate of 10% by weight of cement. The results showed that the highest average compressive strength of concrete
was 55.65 MPa which was obtained from the concrete composition with the addition of silica fume by 1.4% at a water-cement factor of 0.26. Meanwhile, concrete specimens without additives obtained the highest average compressive strength of 50.4 MPa using a water-cement factor of 0.26.
