Abstract

Waste problems arise because the large volume of waste does not match the Land for Final Disposal (TPA) which is accompanied by a fairly high population growth where this is also supported by the existence of waste processing techniques which are still low and become a difficult problem. to overcome. Garbage is a problem in the community, there is still a lot of garbage scattered, not only on the highway but even along the river is polluted due to garbage. Thus, waste is a crucial problem that requires very intensive handling. The waste problem is the cause of further problems such as a dirty environment, and has an impact on poor health, but many people do not realize the importance of protecting nature and the environment.
The purpose of this research is to find out and describe how the role of the waste bank in empowering the community's economy. To find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the role of the waste bank in empowering the community's economy. The purpose of this research is to add insight into the waste problem and empower the community to improve the economy through the poor waste bank.
The type of research used in this research is qualitative research, with a focus on research on waste bank organization, waste bank mechanism which includes; household waste sorting, depositing, weighing records, payments and transportation as well as inhibiting and supporting factors. The informants in this research are; waste bank management and waste bank customers. The data collection technique is based on the results of observations, documentation and interviews. The data analysis technique used is an interactive data analysis technique which suggests that the data analysis technique is carried out interactively and takes place continuously until it is complete, so that the data is saturated. The location of the research was conducted at the waste bank of Malang City, Malang Street. S. supriyadi N0 38, Sukun, Sukun District, Malang City, East Java.
From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Waste Bank is a program for the community to participate in creating a clean and healthy environment that is free from waste problems. With the Waste Bank program, the community can improve the economy by selling waste at the Malang Garbage Bank
