Marital adjustment is the process of self-adaptation between the husbands and wifes, in which the husbands and wifes can prevent conflicts, and can resolve conflicts, through a process of adjustment. This is important to be owned by the husbands and wifes, especially in the early stages of marital which is the phase adjustment because it is more vulnerable to conflicts. To having a good marital adjustment, individual will be easily face the challenges and pressures in the marital life. Individual who have a good marital adjustment will try to maintain behaviors to avoid conflicts, and if conflicts already raised then the individual will be able to resolve it well. Sense of humor which is well developed will allow it to be facilitate the marital adjustment of the husbands and wives. This research was conducted to determine the influence of sense of humor to the marital adjustment in the early stages of marital. Population used in this research was married peoples which are on early stage of marital in Nunukan Timur, Nunukan district, East Kalimantan. Sampling was purposive technique, validity of the marital adjustment scale with significant level 0.05 ranging from 0.150 to 0.671 by the number of valid were 56 items, whereas the sense of humor use Multidimensional Sense of Humor modified scale with the level of validity 0.90. Calculation of marital adjustment variableÂ’s reliability was obtained value of alpha (α) = 0.930, and reliability of the sense of humor variable was obtained value of alpha (α) = 0.70. In which both of numbers according to the norms of reliability otherwise very reliable in marital adjustment variable and reliable in the sense of humor variabel. The results of data analysis showed there is influence between sense of humor to the marital adjustment in the early stage of marital for Fhit = 11.486 with Ftab = 3.89 which if Fhit (11.486)> Ftab (3.89) the hypothesis which states there is a sense of humor to the influence of marital adjustment be accepted and a correlation coefficiecy of 0.250.
