As a company value indicator and influenced by various fundamental and technical variables, stock return simultaneously form a market strength, which in turn influences the transaction of stock. This study aims to analize the influence of inflation, interest rate, and exchange rate on the stock return of textile and Garment industry at the Jakarta Stock Exchange. The sample is taken by using purposive random sampling method. The population covers 25 companies and the sample consist of 9 companies. The research period of 3 year (January 1999 up to December 2001). The data are analysed by multiple linear regression. The research result shos that from three variables assumed to influence on the stock return of Textile and Garment industry under investigation, there are two variables which partially show negative and significant influeftce: Interest rate and exchange rate with degree less than 5%. Based on the research results, it is also discovered that the variables have weak influence in explaining stock return variation of Textile and Garment industry at the Jakarta Stock Exchange in which RI is only 10,6% which means that stock return variation is mostly determined by market psychology. Partial Testing results indicated that the deposit interest rate has more dominant influence than the exchange rate. The classical assumption test namely the multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation test are applied to obtain the best result.
