Abstract

Indonesia is one of the Country which rich in the terms of having volcanoes. It is recorded as many as 127 active volcanoes located in Indonesia and 84 of them show explosive activity in the last 100 years. Volcano is a geological area where people living around the volcano having a benefit from the sharing aspects such as, aspects of tourism, culture, and economy. When people having the benefits from the volcano, the community also should be wary of the danger that is also generated by the volcanic activity. Kelud Volcanology Center which is the center of information and research is expected to provide education so that people are more familiar with volcanic behavior and well prepared to face the volcanic eruptions and the impact. The existing research function is also expected to be a tool that able to accommodate the needs in terms of research on volcanoes in Indonesia.The design is done by analytical descriptive approachment through literature study, comparative study, and interview to produce the function program; education, information centre and research.Approachment was made to form in the design of the Kelud Volcanology Center project through a metaphorical approachment by taking the basic form and the nature of volcanoes.
