Abstract
Nowadays, the role of human resource managers is important to maintain the harmony of industrial relations within the company. For achieving the harmony of industrial relations, some competencies of managers such as human resource planning, human resources development, compensation, occupational health and safety work environment (K-3), industrial relations and understanding the law of labor are required. HR managers must also have the competence to communicate well, negotiate and integrity. The managerial role in maintaining industrial relations is also important in maintaining the harmony of industrial relations. There are 2 roles of HR managers in maintaining industrial relations, that is the role of interference handling and the role of negotiator. The role of interference handling is to take corrective action when conflicts arise, resolve conflicts between subordinates and adapt to the environmental crisis. The role of a negotiator is to represent the department when negotiating union contracts, sales, purchases, budgets and represents departmental concerns.
