Abstract

Quality improvement of national education is highly needed to lead Indonesia standing sid by sid with other countries. It will be achieved when educational process is able to produce qualified human resources. Many people wil be in charge to this phenomenon, notably educational world whose key player is teacher. Teacher is considered as an intellectual professional that requires the possession of several skills, competency and comprehensive ability. Recent condition of our education has not reached yet people optimum expectancy that it needs any appropriate effort and strategy in improving teacher performance wich in turn will improve teaching and learning process in classroom. Principal leadership behavior, school climate, and work motivation are seen as important factors influencing teacher performance, including teachers in senior high schools ini Buntok. The result of research suggests that: (1) level of principal leadership behavior of senior high schools in Buntok is relatively high, 45,2%, (2) level of work motivation of senior high schools in Buntok is 21,3%, (3) level of work disipline of senior high schools in Buntok is, 10,4%, (4) there is a significant effect principal leadership behavior, work motivation, and work disipline teachers performance of senior high schools in Buntok is, 76, 9%. Based on result, the following suggestions are made: (1) teachers gain input doing self-improvement to perform any duties and responsibilities that self-professionalism improves, and in turn it will improve quality of human resources, (2) principals have useful information in improving their leadership behavior by creating conducive school climate to lead teachers improving their performance, (3) several steps should be taken by Departement of Education Malang Municipal and other related institutions in evaluating principal performance and improving work motivation as an effort in maintaining and improving teachers performance, (4) it is necessary to conduct further research in finding out teacher performance beyond principal leadership behavior, work motivation, and work disipline variables that other information on teacher performance improvement is gathered.
