Abstract
Street corridor landscape could be the first impression to see the beauty of a city. One of the street corridor landscape that is appropriate to estimate is the civic center area because the area is usually planned and constructed well and proportionally to keep the good image of the city. This study aims to judge the visual aesthetics of Malang's street corridor landscape, particularly in its civic center area named Alun-alun Bunder monument area. The method applied is analytically descriptive using Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE). The study limitation is within one kilometer radius from Alun-alun Bunder Monument. The first layer area is arround 1 to 300 meters; the second is arround 300 to 600 meters, whereas the last layer is arround 600 to 1000 meters. The variables consist of vegetation, street hardening, construction, sky and water. The result is the landscape studied reaches SBE value of 8.79 10 140.13 and it is regarded as a high value. The value of>117.57 is categorized medium whereas the value of 87.9 is considere low. The increasing buildings elements have factually lowered the visual aesthetic. however, the increase of vegetation, sky, and hardening has made the visual aesthetics increased. It is concluded, the variables of buildings, hardening process, vegetation, and sky have no significant correlation with the value of SBE. It happens because the percentage combination of the landscape corridor elements of the street vary and their relations are not relevant enough. Layer 1, reaching SBE 140.13, dominantly shows the beauty of the area whereas layer 2 represents medium aesthetics and layer 3 represents the lowest.
