Abstract
Motivation for every human being is the driving force to do something to achieve goals. Students need motivation in order to achieve high learning achievements. There are many factors that influence students' motivation to learn, including parents' parenting patterns towards children. A parenting style that is appropriate to the child will increase the child's motivation in learning. Based on this, it is important to carry out research to determine the relationship between authoritative parenting style and learning motivation in class XII students at UM Malang Laboratory High School. The population of class XII at UM Malang Laboratory High School is 296 students. In this study, sampling used a simple random sampling technique with 170 participants in class XII of UM Malang Laboratory High School. The instrument used in this research was a questionnaire with a scale of parenting patterns and learning motivation. The analysis in this research uses correlation analysis to test the hypothesis of whether there is a relationship between authoritative parenting and learning motivation in class XII students at UM Malang Laboratory High School. The results of this research show that there is a relationship between authoritative parenting and learning motivation with a correlation coefficient of 0.732 with a significance of 0.000. The correlation coefficient for both variables shows positive, which means that the relationship is in the same direction. In this direction, it can be interpreted that, if the authoritative parenting style is higher, then the learning motivation of class XII students at UM Malang Laboratory High School will also be higher. The lower the authoritative parenting style, the lower the learning motivation of class XII students at UM Malang Laboratory High School.
