Abstract

This study examines the influence of education level on the perception of the Panai money tradition in the Bugis Bone community, which plays a role in marriage customs. Panai money is often seen as a symbol of social and economic status that affects social dynamics. This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in perceptions of Panai money based on education level. The research method used is a quantitative survey design. The subjects of this study were 386 respondents selected using accidental sampling from Macanang Village, Bone Regency. The instrument used was a questionnaire to measure perceptions of Panai money and education level. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using non-parametric tests. The results of the study show that education level does not influence people's perceptions of Panai money. Cultural and social factors are more dominant in shaping perceptions. This study suggests that future research should consider other factors, such as socio-economic status, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of perceptions of Panai money.
