Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of the counseling teacher in building trust in students in the Gestalt approach. The subjects in this study were counseling teachers at Taman Madya Senior High School in Malang City. Data collection techniques used in this study were observations, interviews, and documentation with the researcher as the main instrument. Journal analysis of this study is descriptive qualitative and is compiled based on the case study method in the form of research and interpretation. The results is: (1) The main objectives of the counseling program carried out by counseling teachers at SMA Taman Madya Malang City were inappropriate, so the guidance and counseling program was not directed. (2) There are problems with commitment and responsibility in students' awareness of improving the counseling program's quality. (3) The lack of effectiveness in the approach system between the counseling teacher and students has resulted in different views of students regarding the counseling program. (4) The issues that include low or rare students' desire to participate in the counseling program at their own will, the way students get counseling services is because they can be summoned by the counseling teacher
