Abstract

Married postgraduate students face dual challenges in balancing academic and domestic responsibilities, which can trigger academic stress. This study aims to examine the extent to which husband support influences the level of academic stress experienced by wives pursuing advanced studies at the Graduate School of Universitas Merdeka Malang. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The sampling technique used a census approach with 51 married female postgraduate students as participants. The instruments used were the academic stress scale and husband support scale. Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed a significant negative relationship between husband support and academic stress (rₛ = -0.492; p < 0.01), indicating that higher levels of support from husbands are associated with lower academic stress in wives. These findings contribute to strengthening social support theory and offer practical implications for couples and educational institutions in promoting the psychological well-being of married postgraduate students.
