Abstract

This study is a quantitative study that aims to determine the relationship betweendemocratic parenting and prosocial behavior in adolescents in Gelaman Village,Suemenep Regency. The subjects in this study were teenagers aged 12-22 yearsin Gelaman Village, Sumenep Regency, totaling 98 subjects with a simplerandom sampling technique. Methods of data collection using the scale ofdemocratic parenting and prosocial behavior scale. The democratic parentingscale consists of 48 valid items with a reliability coefficient of 0.902. The prosocialbehavior scale consists of 24 valid items with a reliability coefficient of 0.0872.The data is processed by using SPSS. The results of the normality test of theparenting pattern and prosocial behavior scale were 0.089, while the results ofthe linearity test of democratic parenting and prosocial behavior were 0.000. Theresults of hypothesis testing with simple linear regression obtained a correlationindex of variable y of 1,000 and variable x of 0.770 with a significance of 0.000indicating that variable y is related to variable x. The higher the democraticparenting pattern, the higher the prosocial behavior of adolescents. Conversely,the lower the democratic parenting pattern, the lower the prosocial behavior ofadolescents.
