Abstract
The reason behind this research is that the candidates who will compete in the election contestation for the City of Malang in the 2018-2024 period have problems from an integrity standpoint and the number of Community Participation in Regional Head Elections in the Sukoharjo Village in the previous Pilkada was still relatively low. This research aims to describe and explain the factors that influence the participation of the Sukoharjo Village Community in the 2018 Malang City election. and practically as input material for the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS), especially related to Sukoharjo Village Community Participation in the 2018 Malang City elections.
This study used a qualitative approach, and the research location was Sukoharjo Village, Klojen District, Malang City with a population of Sukoharjo Village residents who had been registered as the final voter list and the samples were Sukoharjo Village Head, KPPS, PPS, TPS witnesses, Community Leaders, and Satlinmas Members. , Witnesses from each candidate, as well as several residents of the Sukoharjo Village who have been registered as the permanent voter list (DPT).
The results of the research show that most of the people of the Sukoharjo Village have high political awareness and participate in the 2018 Malang City election, this is evidenced by the increasing community participation rate which reached 62.32% in the 2018 Malang City election. In addition, there are still Family Arrangements , Influence of school or level of education, Influence of social groups, Influence of work, Influence of mass media, Influence of Contacts - Direct political box in the 2018 Malang City election in Sukoharjo Vill.
