Abstract
Chotimatun Zahra with NIM (19031000075) a student of Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Merdeka University Malang, guided by Bambang Noorsetya as supervisor I and Umi Chayatin as supervisor II. This thesis is entitled "Efforts to Empower Village Communities Through MSME Bird Cage Craftsmen in Gedog Wetan Village, Turen District, Malang Regency". Poverty often occurs in rural areas, therefore it is important for villages to carry out village development, village development and village empowerment. One of the efforts made by the government to overcome poverty in the village is to empower village communities. Efforts to empower villages through MSME bird cage craftsmen in Gedog Wetan Village are one of the efforts made by the government to overcome poverty, but there are problems that occur in its implementation, namely: it is difficult for craftsmen to get a market, a decrease in bird cage sales turnover, competition for raw materials, there are craftsmen who go bankrupt, there is no group of craftsmen, there are craftsmen who are already big in power. This research on efforts to empower village communities through MSME bird cage craftsmen in Gedog Wetan Village aims to describe and analyze village community empowerment programs through MSME bird cage craftsmen and their supporting and inhibiting factors. The usefulness of this research is: it is expected to be a contribution to the Gedog Wetan village government to make a major contribution in empowering village communities for MSME bird cage craftsmen. This research method uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach then the location of this research is in Gedog Wetan Village, Turen District, Malang Regency. This data collection technique by conducting interviews, observation and documentation. Then data analysis techniques by means of: data collection, data condensation, data presentation and data verification. Based on the results of research efforts to empower village communities through MSME bird cage craftsmen, namely: First, knowledge and skill training for cage craftsmen. Second, providing capital to craftsmen carried out by collectors and private banks and cooperatives. Third, the provision of production equipment provided by the Malang Regency Industrial Service. Fourth, the marketing of bird cage craftsmen through online and free trade. Fifth, partnerships carried out by collectors and craftsmen. The supporting factors of this research are the enthusiastic participation of the community and the easy marketing of bird cages. However, there are inhibiting factors, namely: the existence of free pasa rulers, minimal capital so that many are out of business.
