Abstract

The study aims to find out the difference between the coping stress of the female teacher reviewed and her marital status. Coping stress is an individual's self responsive response to a problem. Women teachers, especially those who are married, have two major responsibilities in the family and in the school. Not a few female teachers are stressed by those two responsibilities. An effort to cope with stress well needs to be made by each individual to prevent the adverse effects of stress. The study uses quantitative research methods to test the hypothesis of differences in female teacher coping stress based on marital status. The data analysis technique used is an independent t test. The research instrument uses a Likert-type stress coping scale. Subjects in this study consisted of 100 female teachers at the level of TK, SD, SMP, or SMA with unmarried status who have been married. The results of the independent t test in this study showed a value of 9,199, where t counts were greater than t table (1,984). The results showed that there was a difference in coping with the stress of unmarried female teachers and married female teachers. The mean coping stress of married female teachers was 91.1, and female unmarried teachers obtained an average score of 71.5. The results showed that coping with the stress of a female married teacher was better than coping with the stress of an unmarried female teacher.
