Abstract

The rice fields of Wonoketro village, Jetis sub-district, Ponorogo district, are located at an altitude of 180 m above sea level. With a fairly high intensity of sunlight, the type of soil is alluvial, with a soil pH of 6.90, in the dry season, the rice fields are planted with corn. The selection of Community Service is based on several obstacles experienced by corn farmers, including, the majority of farmers have not used certified superior seeds, the limited amount of subsidized fertilizers, attacks by corn stem rot disease, and low corn prices at harvest. The existence of a law that regulates the distribution of subsidized fertilizers has resulted in farmers not being able to bring in subsidized fertilizer from outside the Ponorogo district, because there are legal sanctions. The
activity was carried out with field observations in September 2022, then presentations and discussions with corn farmers in October 2022. From observations and discussions with corn farmers, it was found that the key to success in corn cultivation is the use of certified superior seeds and the application of fertilizer according to the dose recommendation. Farmers also agreed to start replacing subsidized fertilizers (chemical) with organic fertilizers or compost. Community service to farmers in Wonoketro village, Jetis sub-district, Ponorogo district, needs to be carried out in a sustainable manner.
