Abstract

The research had two goals: first, to analyze the effects of wage (X1), working condition (X2), staff development (X3), and recognition (X4) variables on the working motivation of hotel staffs in Ambon; second, to know the dominant variable effecting the motivation. From results of multiple-linear regression analysis, it was indicated that there were an significant effects amongs the wage (X1), the working condition (X2), the staff development (X3), and the recognation (X4) variables on the working motivation of hotel staffs. However, the dominant variable effecting the staff motivation is the recognition variable (X4). From the results, it could be recommended to the owners or managements to take care of the variables effecting the staff's motivation. And it was recommended to future researchers to include other variables potentially effecting the satff's motivation except the variables included in this study, so it would be expected from the future studies that we could see variables really influencing the motivation of hotel staffs.
